Mike Bennett founded GOpositive.BIZ, LLC in 2009 as a public policy and business consulting service. He uses his experience from working as a Presidential appointee in a Federal Agency, senior staff for three members of Congress and as a community banker to produce positive results for his clients.
GOpositive.BIZ, LLC has worked on several projects including a U.S. Department of Energy Smart Grid Investment Grant application, a U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Agency (USDA RD) Rural Business Enterprise Grant and a Business and Marketing Plan for a proposed business.
Mike was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2006 to be Colorado State Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Agency. He and his staff of 59 were responsible for providing over $250 million to rural Colorado in loans and grants for single family housing, multi-family housing, businesses, utilities and community facilities.
Mike has over 20 years of experience in community banking consisting of positions as Boulder Region President for Heritage Bank, Vice President-Senior Lender of Cherry Creek Mortgage, a member of the board of directors of Valley Bancorp, President of First National Bank of Brighton, President of Valley Bank of Lyons, President of Valley Bank of Frederick, Vice President and Cashier of The Byers State Bank, Assistant Vice President-Loans and Assistant Cashier of Farmers State Bank of Yuma and as a Loan Review Specialist for the FDIC.
Mike has nearly 16 years of service as a senior level congressional staffer in Colorado and in Washington, D.C. Mike served as Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Wayne Allard (CO) and U.S. Senator Tim Scott (SC). He also served as District Director for U.S. Representative Wayne Allard (CO-04) and U.S. Representative Cory Gardner (CO-04).
During his career, Mike has been an active member of his community including being an elected member of the Yuma, CO City Council, Yuma Home Rule Commission and Yuma Planning Commission.
Mike is a graduate of the University of Colorado Graduate School of Banking. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
